What you’ll find in branch
MKM Galashiels is the premier independent merchant in the area, with the team collectively having 110 years of industry experience. We’ve employed the best people in their fields, who are all passionate about building and merchanting, and 100% behind the idea of putting customers first.
If you have been into any of our other MKM branches you will see we always hire the most helpful experts to help you get exactly what you need for your next building, plumbing or home renovation project.
The kitchen and bathroom showroom has a retail friendly feel with a Kitchen Specialist on hand to offer a free design service. MKM Galashiels is also offering an outsourced take-off service for builders, so you can price up the full project of a home build or extension.

Our new MKM Galashiels branch is headed up by Bob Hogarth, who had over 20 years of merchanting experience under his belt before being welcomed into the MKM fold. Starting his career as a sales rep, he quickly moved up the ranks and became a regional manager and more recently an area sales manager for the East of Scotland (though this spanned as far as Inverness, Fort William and Skye). While he doesn’t call himself a specialist, modest Bob definitely knows more than most about the timber side of merchanting. He’s also met Sir Bob Geldof, so be sure to ask him about this.
Outside of work Bob is a family man, and can often be found mucking out the stables and tending to the horses with his wife, son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter. He’s also a big rugby union fan, supporting his team Kelso RFC. In fact, Bob was part of the Scottish national squad back in the 80s, sitting on the bench against England at Twickenham and Wales at Murrayfield. And he played Sevens four times at Hong Kong, as well as tournaments in Dubai, Muscat, Monte Carlo and Paris.
